USD 249 Frontenac Schools Hall of Fame
ALOLPH SPIGARELLI
Inducted 2024
Adolph Spigarelli attended Frontenac Schools in the 1930s, and followed that time as a Navy Lieutenant during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart for his actions in service.
Mr. Spigarelli played football at Fort Scott Community College and Pittsburg State University. Following that time, he entered the coaching ranks with multiple teams in the area.
While at Frontenac, Coach Spigarelli took the Raiders to their first state championship game in 1969. That game ended in a tie, but due to the tie-breaking rules at the time, the Raiders were awarded the runner-up trophy.
Unfortunately, the following year, Coach Spigarelli would pass away suddenly during the season, having left his mark on the program and community. Adolph Spigarelli enjoyed a tremendous winning percentage in his short time as head coach, finishing his Frontenac tenure with a 17-2 record. In his memory, the football field would be named after him, allowing countless future Raiders to showcase their talents on Adolph ‘Doc’ Spigarelli Memorial Field.
