Archie San Romani

Mr. San Romani graduated from FHS in 1932 following a decorated track career at Frontenac that
saw him win our first state championship. Archie would go on to have a brilliant athletic career at
what is today Emporia State University winning 3 National Championships while setting NCAA
and world records. In 1936, Archie qualified for the Olympic Games in Berlin, Germany and
finished 4th place in the 1500 meter race. Later, Archie would set an individual world record in
the 2000 meter race. Archie San Romani retired from competitive running in 1940 and became a
music teacher.
