Frank Layden

Mr. Layden graduated from FHS in 1926 and returned to teach history at Frontenac in 1929. Frank
Layden would go on to serve as teacher, principal, and superintendent at Frontenac Schools for the next 43 years, retiring in 1972. Over that time, tremendous growth was seen in the district
including the construction of the “Old” Gym, the football field, the cafeteria, and the elementary
school, which is named in his honor.
