Terri Amershek is a 1983 graduate of Frontenac High School. While in school, Terri was a standout athlete, especially in basketball. She was the floor leader and the “spark plug” on a team that went 49-1 during her final two years. She was a four-year starter with a career record of 92-5.

Her record includes four league titles, third- and fourth-place finishes in state play, and a perfect 25-0 season capped by a State Championship in 1981-82. Terri was the point guard for a record 48-game winning streak.

She earned All-CNC honors three times and was selected to the State Tournament Team in 1982 and 1983. Terri holds the records for the most steals in a game (13) and the most assists in a game (14). She was also selected to play in the Topeka Classic and the SEK All-Star Classic.

Terri’s career totals include 1,176 points, a 12.1 career scoring average, a 43% field-goal percentage, and 534 assists.

Terri had to make an adjustment from wing to point guard during her junior year. It was tough, but she improved with each game. Terri was a great perimeter shooter and excelled at getting down the floor to lead the fast break. She usually had more assists than the opposing team had combined.

As a result of her tremendous accomplishments, jersey #11 was retired in her honor.

Terri says she was privileged to be coached by John Varsolona during her freshman and sophomore years, and by Tom German during her junior and senior years.
