Inducted 2025
Terry Barto is one of the most accomplished athletes in Frontenac history, helping lead the Raiders to an incredible 92-5 record during her four years as a starter. That stretch included four league titles, a third- and fourth-place finish at state, and the 1981-82 State Championship. She was the cornerstone of a program that built a record 48-game winning streak.
A four-time All-CNC selection, Barto was named to the State Tournament team three consecutive years and etched her name in history by breaking the record for most points scored in state tournament play, surpassing the legendary Lynette Woodard. In nine state tournament games, she scored 178 points for a 19.9 average, while also pulling down 91 rebounds. Her career totals remain among the very best at Frontenac, with 1,598 points, a 16.5 career scoring average, 44% field goal percentage, and 1,024 rebounds. Recognized as one of the most prolific players in Kansas during her era, Barto was selected to the prestigious Topeka Classic, served as the leading scorer for the East team, and was chosen as an SEK All-Star.
Her success continued at Pittsburg State University, where she became one of the Gorillas’ all-time greats. Barto finished her career ranked 14th all-time in scoring with 1,226 points and 9th all-time in rebounds with 583, further cementing her place among the top players in program history.
From record-setting high school dominance to leaving her mark at the collegiate level, Terry Barto’s career is a testament to excellence, leadership, and impact.
