Tom German

Inducted 2026

Tom German led the Frontenac High School girls basketball program to a perfect 25-0 season and the 1982 Class 2A state championship.

The title was the second in program history, coming three years after the Raiders captured their first under head coach John Varsolona. German guided Frontenac to the CNC League championship before leading the Raiders through the state tournament at Municipal Auditorium in Topeka.

Frontenac defeated Atwood 62-50 in the opening round, Jackson Heights 46-43 in the semifinals and previously unbeaten Ashland 56-49 in the state championship game.

The senior class of Penne Cherry, Kelly Jones and Barbara Swink completed its career with a 93-4 record, three state tournament appearances and two undefeated state championship seasons. German was assisted by LaDonna Brunetti, with Paula Uttley serving as team manager.

German was inducted into the Frontenac High School Hall of Fame in recognition of his leadership and role in one of the greatest seasons in school history.
